Why does a city I've never lived in feel more like home than the place I actually live?
I have never been to Bangalore, yet I feel drawn to it. Whenever I think about where I belong, Bangalore is the first place that comes to mind.
I'm a 24 year old living on the outskirts of Mumbai, trying to figure out life like everyone around me.
My career so far has been less of a straight line and more of a collection of experiments. Different jobs, different industries, different lessons.
The one thing that has stayed constant is my curiosity.
When I think of Bangalore, I don't think of roads, weather, or real estate prices.
I think of people building startups, ideas, conversations in cafes, small teams trying to solve problems, and people who are curious enough to start before they feel ready.
A lot of the content I consume happens to come from Bangalore. The Kamath brothers, founder interviews, startup podcasts. Almost all the people I look up to are from Bangalore. Kunal Shah has probably been the biggest influence on how I think.
I tried to move, multiple times actually. Some opportunities didn't work out, some weren't practical, some simply weren't the right fit.
So I stayed where I was.
Maybe Bangalore isn't really what I'm searching for.
Maybe I'm just searching for a place where curiosity feels normal.
A place where building things is encouraged.
A place where ambitious conversations don't feel unusual.
Maybe that place is Bangalore.
Maybe it isn't.
But for now, it's the closest thing I've found to a home I've never been to.
